SHIFT+ Planning Conference

The 2025 Shift+ Conference explored the theme Trade-Offs and focused on the complex challenges of today’s planning landscape and balancing competing interests.

Waye Mason (moderator), Shekara Grant, Naryn Davar-Timbre and Tristan Cleveland participate in panel at the 2025 Shift+ Conference.

Diving into the realities of prioritizing growth and housing while addressing the trade-offs inherent in decision-making, the conference uncovered strategies to address conflicts and create thoughtful, forward-thinking solutions. Our founder Shekara Grant participated in a panel called The Future of Community Planning that explored different policy shifts and innovative approaches that will define the future of community planning. Her key messages were that the desires of community members should no longer be traded off for profit, and that African Nova Scotians more generally will no longer accept being traded off.
