African Nova Scotian Archival Gathering

The African Nova Scotian Archival Gathering,

hosted by Dalhousie’s African Nova Scotian Strategy in partnership with Dalhousie Libraries, focused on understanding and strengthening African Nova Scotian archives across the province. They brought together community members with personal collections of family and cultural artifacts, such as pictures, conference materials, and church bulletins, alongside professionals working within institutional archives that hold African Nova Scotian materials.

Together, we shared insights, heard from speakers, discussed the resources and services needed to better manage these special collections, and began to envision what an African Nova Scotian Community Archive could look like. This event was integral for our organization as we work to maintain the intangible heritage of our community.
